INSHORE
FISHING -- 2009 |
April-May |
Usually this trip takes place in Peconic Bay. We will usually employ a mix of jigs and live bait for weakfish. On the right tide we will also jig another area a little further east which has produces 11 and 12 pound weakfish in the past. We will typically run across other species on this trip as well. |
June-November |
Depending on your preference, the tide, and the time of year there are many options. Either live bait drifting, or bait drifting, anchoring and chumming, casting. Live bait and bait drifting take place in the inlet and just outside in to the ocean. We have certain areas that we also like to anchor and drift clams back to the bass. This is a very relaxing and productive way of catching striped bass. Montauk Striped Bass- We start out in the morning by heading North through the Shinnecock locks and then east towards Montauk. This is a beautiful trip which will take us through the Peconic bays, past Sag Harbor, out in to Gardiners Bay and then to Monatuk. We will fish the rips and other areas around Montauk Point for the day targeting Striped Bass. Typically we catch live bait in Montauk, or drift eels for the bass. We can also jig depending on the tide. At the end of the day we will turn west and come around Montauk Point and then follow the south shore back past Amagansett, East Hampton, Sagaponack, Bridgehampton, Southampton, and back to our dock. This is a great trip if you would like to see some beautiful sites along the way and enjoy some of Monatuks famous Striped Bass fishing. This trip leaves the dock at 7:00am and returns around 4:00pm. |
May-September |
This trip takes place in the ocean south of Shinnecock inlet or inside Shinnecock bay depending on where the fish are. We will be drifting hand tied fluke rigs and bait. There are numerous productive areas south of Shinnecock that hold these feisty fish throughout the season. On this trip we will usually encounter other species as well. This can also be a very relaxing trip, or a very aggressive trip depending on the clients needs. Our fluke and sea bass trips can also be combined. |
May-October |
What can we say. One of our toughest fighting fish and always fun to catch. These fish can be caught by casting, baiting, or jigging, depending upon our clients preference. |
May-November |
Our sea bass trips our usually very fast paced. We will be dropping down bait to depths of 50-90 feet on numerous wrecks and articials reef spots. Double headers are not uncommon when fishing for sea bass as well as the possibility of encountering fluke which like to lay around the out skirts of the wrecks. These trips will usually involve a lot of moving around to different spots to find quality fish. Our fluke and sea bass trips can also be combined. |
October-December |
Usually starting in mid to late October. These trips usually take us south of Shinnecock where we will anchor over certain structure which has held some great catches for us in the past. We will be fishing with live green crabs at depths of 60-100 feet. These trips also involve quite a bit of moving around to keep on the fish, but once we are set the action is usually hot and the fishing non stop. |

We leave the dock at 5:00am. The ride out to the canyons is approximately two hours depending on where the fish are. You can expect to see different types of wildlife through the day with possibilities including ocean sunfish, whales, sea turtles, dolphins. We troll seven rods whenever possible and fish with quality gear and tackle. Typically you can expect to catch yellowfin and longfin tuna. If the cahrter is interested we can also spend some time casting to mahi around the lobster pots offshore. Our return trip usually starts around 2:00pm. We arrive at the dock around 4pm and will clean and ice your fish. If the bite is hot we will stay a little longer if the charter is willing. |
